Why Drain Problems Keep Returning
If a drain clears temporarily but clogs again within weeks, the underlying cause may require further evaluation:
- Remaining Pipe Wall Buildup: Cable clearing punches a pathway through blockages, but thick grease or scale on pipe walls may remain.
- Hardened Grease Coating: Fats and oils solidifying along cold pipe interior walls over time.
- Intruding Tree Roots: Root intrusion may return when an opening in the sewer line remains, even after the immediate obstruction is cleared.
- Foreign Objects: Wipes or small items caught inside branch lines catching paper debris.
- Structural Pipe Conditions: Offsets, sagging sections (bellies), or cracked pipe walls holding standing water or solids.
- Clearing the Wrong Line Segment: Addressing a fixture trap when the restriction sits further downstream inside the main drain stack.
